Así es, existe un día llamado el día de la Marmota, y se celebra el dos de febrero cada año, aquí en EE. UU y Canadá; ¿en que consiste dicha celebración?

Es una celebración folclórica o mejor dicho un método que usan los granjeros de Estados Unidos y Canadá para saber cuanto tiempo de invierno nos queda; y todo esto basándose en el comportamiento que tiene la marmota cuando sale de hibernar.

Según la creencia, si la marmota no ve su sombra, abandonará su madriguera, y es esta la señal que indica que el invierno terminará muy pronto.

De lo contrario, si la marmota ve su sombra, volverá a su madriguera, lo que indica seis semanas más de invierno.

Este año Phil anunció seis semanas más de invierno; Phil es la marmota de Punxsutawney, en el estado de Pennsylvania, y es la marmota inmortalizada por la película Groundhog Day; Con más de un siglo de tradición, esta es la 106a vez que Phil mira su sombra desde que comenzara la tradición.
